Facility

The HPC cluster is housed in the newly renovated, McNutt Data Center on the UNCG campus. The McNutt Data Center is a 2500 sq.ft. environmentally controlled facility that serves as the primary location for the UNCG network and server infrastructure. The Data Center can accommodate up to 80 standard sized hardware cabinets. The Data Center is powered by two 400kva Universal Power Supply (UPS) units operating in a 2N redundancy configuration, and four Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) units operating in an N+1 redundancy configuration. The Data Center building power is backed up by an external generator capable of powering the entire building, with the option to add a secondary generator in the future. The building is provided power by two separate campus feeds that have built-in redundancy in the event of a power disruption in the Greensboro area.
