We are excited to announce the BridgesToChem program at the UNCG Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry! This opportunity is targeted at students transferring to UNCG from community colleges with an intention to major in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related area.
BridgesToChem has two components to help community college transfer students succeed in Chemistry/Biochemistry:
1. Career Building Workshops
All transfer students majoring in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related STEM fields are invited to career building workshops. They will focus on both success as a Chemistry/Biochemistry major and after graduation. Topics will include career options, applying for jobs, building a Chemistry/Biochemistry focused resume, securing internships, and getting involved in research.
2. Summer Research Bridge Program
Undergraduate research is a highly valuable experience that gives students a hands-on opportunity to participate in cutting edge research. This Bridge Program will select two students to participate in 8 weeks of research in the Chekan Lab during the Summer of 2025. Students will receive a $4,000 stipend for their efforts. Acceptance is contingent on enrollment at UNCG.
Applications for the Summer Research program are now open! Apply by March 1 for best consideration.
The opportunity is funded by the National Science Foundation (2418920).
