Message from the Department Head

Welcome to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro!

I am excited and honored to be the new Department Head after 21 years at UNCG!  Our department is a vibrant community of scholars, educators, and students dedicated to advancing the great fields of chemistry and biochemistry. With award-winning faculty and staff, we are committed to providing an exceptional education and fostering an environment where students can thrive.

We offer a full range of degree programs, from undergraduate to Ph.D., with a strong emphasis on research, hands-on learning, and cultivating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere. Our ACS-certified BS Chemistry program and versatile BS Biochemistry degree prepare students for a variety of careers, including paths in health professions, the chemical industry, and also further graduate study. Our graduate programs, including the MS and Ph.D. in Chemistry and Biochemistry, offer advanced training and research opportunities, leading to successful careers in industry, government, and academia.

Our department has received numerous accolades, including awards for teaching excellence, research achievements, and staff excellence. Our students have also excelled, earning prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowships and NIH F31 fellowships. Additionally, we are proud to be recognized for our efforts in building a community that values and supports all its members.

We pride ourselves on a close-knit environment that fosters collaboration and innovation. Our faculty are engaged in cutting-edge research, and our students actively participate in these exciting endeavors.
