We’re excited to invite applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in the Popova Group within the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
As a postdoctoral scholar, you’ll be part of our NSF-sponsored project titled “Collaborative Research: Broadening Instructional Innovation in the Chemistry Laboratory through Excellence in Curriculum Development.” For more information about this project, please see this link: https://sites.google.com/smcm.edu/nsf-iuse-2337027-clc-innovator/home?au…
You’ll be heavily involved in data collection and analysis, focusing on how professional development influences laboratory curriculum developers’ thinking and practices. Your responsibilities will include collecting and analyzing data, mentoring students, supporting professional development participants, and sharing findings through publications and conference presentations. The position requires an ability to work independently and to collaborate with others, often handling multiple deadlines concurrently. If you’re interested, there will also be chances to get involved in external proposal writing.
The salary for this position is $55,000, and we’re looking for someone to start as early as Spring 2025, but the exact date is flexible (Summer 2025 could be negotiated as the start date). Please submit applications by September 9, 2024. We’ll begin reviewing applications on September 9, 2024, with the goal to schedule remote interviews in the second half of September/beginning of October.
To be considered, you should have (or be close to completing) a Ph.D. in Chemistry Education Research, STEM Education Research, or a closely related field. We’re particularly interested in candidates with experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, strong writing skills, a solid track record of scholarly publications, and strong organizational and communication abilities. A passion for learning new skills and mentoring students is a big plus. If you have previous experience studying chemistry instructors or laboratory learning environments, that would be highly advantageous for this project.
Please submit (a) a cover letter expressing interest in the position (1-2 pages), (b) a CV, (c) an example of a scholarly work (writing sample), and (d) names and email addresses of three references at the following link: https://spartantalent.uncg.edu/postings/28646
Note that the dates in the official posting in the link above are outdated, and you should follow the dates provided in this announcement, with September 9 as the application due date. Questions regarding the position may be directed to Dr. Maia Popova at m_popova@uncg.edu
We look forward to receiving your application!
