We are looking for team members with enthusiasm for investigating the best practices of teaching and learning of chemistry. Members of the group can look forward to learning to:

  • Collect data in person and remotely.
  • Conduct analyses grounded in literature and theory.
  • Use various qualitative and quantitative techniques to analyze data.
  • Write competitive manuscripts for top-tier chemistry education research journals.
  • Prepare high-quality research presentations and posters to disseminate findings at multiple conferences.

If interested, feel free to contact Dr. Popova via email (m_popova@uncg.edu). In doing so, please share your CV/resume and outline your interests and skills and how these may match the expertise and needs of our research group.

Postdoctoral Researchers

When positions become available in the group, they will be advertised in several places, including CER Listserv and NARST Listserv.

Graduate Students

Typically, we accept one to three students per year, depending on the group’s needs. Prospective students can join the group as pursuing M.S. or Ph.D. degree, devoting all of their time (outside of teaching and classes) to chemistry education research. It is also possible to join the group as pursuing a Ph.D. degree, splitting research time between chemistry education research and research in another chemistry discipline.

Undergraduate and Post-Baccalaureate Students

Typically, several undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students join the group each year. You can join after having completed general chemistry I & II. Preference is given to those who can make a long-term commitment to research (about 12 months and more), especially those who are interested in conducting research in the summer.
