It was such a pleasure to host Dr. Nicole M. James at our group meeting! Nicole gave us a historical perspective on the origin of grades in the US and showed us data highlighting issues of high variability in assigning grades between instructors teaching different sections of the same course. The debate around the merits of grading has been around for as long as grading has existed and still continues today…
