Maia, Fridah, and Lyniesha gave a talk to CER researchers in Germany! Thank you, Dr. Nicole Graulich, for the invitation!
Title: What does it mean to be representationally competent with representations of molecular structure?
Abstract: In this talk, we will discuss our strides toward characterizing student representational competence with various representations of molecular structure. Specifically, we will describe our approaches toward characterizing and evaluating these skills via in-depth but not generalizable qualitative investigations, as well as using less fine-grained but more generalizable quantitative investigations. We will share what we have learned about representational competence as a construct in the context of representations taught in Organic Chemistry.
