Member Spotlight: Julia Hoang
Julia has been with us since October 2020 and became such a valuable asset to our research group! She is very diligent in completing all of the assigned tasks and in a short amount of time she developed many research skills such as the ability to perform deductive and inductive coding of qualitative data, inter-rater reliability (IRR) and agreement (IRA) analyses, and constant comparative and thematic analyses. Julia also mastered the qualitative software Atlas.ti to analyze the data. She even facilitated a workshop for other members of the group about how to use Atlas.ti to conduct IRR and IRA analyses when coding data. Because of all of Julia’s skills and dedication to conducting research, she contributes to two completely different projects in the group: (1) Students’ Reasoning about Representations of Molecular Structure and (2) Teaching Experiences of Instructors within One Chemistry Department during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
In part due to Julia’s hard work analyzing data, we were able to publish the following book chapter and have two more publications with Julia as the co-author in preparation:
