PRG had its first research retreat to reflect on everything that we have learned about RC in the three years we studied this construct!
The group’s graduate students and postdocs got together for a day-long research retreat to reflect on everything we have learned about representational competence (RC) in the three years we studied this construct. As an outcome, we:
- Summarized what instructional support students receive around developing RC and what support is missing
- Summarized what students do well and what they struggle with in respect to interpreting, translating, and using representations
- Generated a new model of RC
- Brainstormed interventions to support RC in a holistic manner
