“Carbene-Stabilization of Highly Reactive Molecules”

Abstract:

Our laboratory has been interested in the main group element chemistry of N-Heterocyclic carbenes (L:) for some time. While our early efforts largely concerned the synthesis of carbene-stabilized main group diatomic such as L:Si=Si:L, L:P-P:L, and L:As-As:L, recent studies have concerned the reactivity of these molecules. This presentation will highlight our recent efforts on the synthesis, structure, and reactivity of these novel molecules.
