Title: “The fundamentals of epigenetics: Directed modification of gene expression.”

Abstract:

Epigenetics can best be described as modifications to gene expression that cause changes in the organism but do not alter the underlying DNA sequence. It can be used to silence or activate specific gene clusters within a genome, leading to specialized functions. Gene activation and silencing can be used by the organism naturally or by directly manipulating the enzymes that control epigenetic modifications.
